This won’t be a geekish post, per se, but I need to share this.

God still speaks.

God still heals.

This past Sunday I’d just preached my lungs out and was singing my way through the closing song, when a few of the lyrics stood out to me:

“Our God is Healer, awesome in power, our God, our God…”

I stopped singing. Focused on the words as they stood up in my heart. As I did, a picture appeared in my mind: Someone’s neck, with a sharp pain near the base. I saw the whole thing, almost like an x-ray. It was clear as day.

And I knew what I was supposed to do.

When I got up to close the service in prayer, I said, “While we were singing that last song, I got a strong impression that there is someone here today suffering from acute neck pain right here…” and pointed to the spot on my own neck. “So I’m going to pray for you right now.”

And I did. A simple, fifteen second prayer, a heartfelt Jesus’ name, an amen, and a go in peace.

Immediately after the service I was flagged down by a couple in our church. “That was me,” the woman said. “When you prayed for me, I got all warm. At first I thought maybe it was because I was embarrassed, but…” she rolled her shoulders to demonstrate, “I feel good now.” Her husband said, “When you described the pain, and especially where it was, I knew it was (her).”

Praise God!

I got an email later that day from another woman, also saying, “That was for me.” She wasn’t physically healed, but wept healing tears as she realized God was with her, that he’d seen her suffering.

I got a Facebook message from another woman, a friend, who thanked me for praying because God had touched her neck, too—the stiffness felt better and the pain had gone down some.

Praise God!

God still speaks.

God still heals.

Have you heard and obeyed the voice of God lately? Do tell!
