Jesus Christ of Nazareth was… is… captivating.
Love him or hate him, the Jesus of scripture is enigmatic, stirring, provoking, challenging, sacrilegious (that’s about religion, remember, not about God), even demanding. He’s jealous, dogmatic, unchanging, uncompromising, lavish, narrow, and authoritarian.
Not exactly the poster boy for the current “entitlement generation.”
Just so we’re clear, this picture of Jesus makes me sick. But it is “the Jesus” many seem to believe in.
