I believe in both the centralized (organized) and decentralized (organic) church. I love to study the Bible. I enjoy spiritual fellowship and think it’s crucial.

But I have a question for you.

If you didn’t have your mom, your dad, your small group, your church, or your religious guilt to push you toward Jesus, would you still follow him? Trust him? Love him?

If I confiscated your daily devotional book and there was no Beth Moore or Max Lucado or “Our Daily Bread,” if you lost your prayer list and your hard drive erased all your Mars Hill podcasts, if there were no blogs doing all the Bible study for you, if you dropped everything you’re currently doing out of spiritual obligation, what would you have left?

In other words, if it was just you and Jesus—no props, no accountability, no reminders, no condemnation, no structure, no “have to’s”—would you, could you, have a dynamic relationship with Jesus?

If not, why not? If so, what would it look like?
